Mercer County Grant Program for Hightstown Small Businesses & Nonprofits: Submit Your Questions and Prepare to Apply

The Mercer County Office of Economic Development held a meeting at the Hightstown Library on March 7, 2024 where they announced their new grant program for small businesses or nonprofit organizations located in Hightstown. Hightstown small businesses or nonprofit organizations can obtain a grant of up to $20,000.00.

This program will open on May 1, 2024 and the community is being called upon to prepare the necessary documents to be ready to apply.

As part of the initiative, the audience was encouraged to submit any questions or queries before the final requirements are set, ensuring the program is designed to meet the specific needs of our local business community.

Notable attendees at the meeting included Hightstown Mayor Susan Bluth; Anthony Carabelli Jr, Director of the Mercer County Office of Economic Development; Terry West, Mercer County Community Development Specialist; Mary Sheehy, Project Manager of Grantworks; and Lilian Mauro, Regional Director of the Small Business Development Center at The College of New Jersey, who highlighted the importance of this program in fostering the economic growth and resilience of our town.

To be eligible for this grant program, businesses must meet the following criteria:

  • Small businesses with fewer than 50 employees and less than $5 million in revenue.
  • Microbusinesses with 5 or fewer employees, of which at least one is the owner.
  • Non-profit organizations located in Hightstown, New Jersey.
  • Possess an IRS non-profit category tax identification certificate.
  • Entities must have been registered as a business/nonprofit organization in Hightstown, NJ, by December 31, 2021
